Playboating is the discipline used when paddlers want to ‘show off’… The idea is to stay on the wave and like snowboarding and skateboarding; playboating is all about the moves you can pull off; cartwheels, loops, spins, whilst you’re on there. In competitions the judges award you points for difficulty of the moves, quality of the execution, number of moves and the fluidity of the routine.
Play boats are light short stumpy boats, often scoped at the ends with more knee room; this is to give more control in all the directions you might want to paddle (vertical as well as sideways).
